She might need a higher quality food, or she could have a skin condition. If she's healthy, and you want a good quick shine, drizzle a little olive or canola oil on a rag and rub her down.
I wouldn't advise bacon grease in her food; remember how unhealthy it is for people. Use moderation.
References :
like humans they need a certain amount of oils to keep a healthy skin and hair covering, if her skin is dry or flaky she needs oil in her diet as a supplement such as cod liver oil, fish oil or kelp tablets, a small amount of warm baby oil rubbed in by hand before grooming helps the surface skin regain oils also by remoisturising, also i wouldnt recommend a solely dry food diet, a lot of dry food diets cause various health problems (kidney/liver/gum disease) even the best products such as Iams can cause these problems, alternate her food with dry and other meals, and always make sure she has plenty of water to hand when eating dry food mixes, check the gums regularly for colour if they are whit'ish in colour it could be due to anaemia, dehydration or worm problems. give her a treat of scrambled eggs occasionally, our dogs love it, hope she does well.
