your best bet as far as i am concerned and who has helped me the most is the dog whisperer, Cesar Milan, and his books are pretty reasonable. he will take you from a to z about any and all problems that can or could arise,also catch him on the discovery channel, you will have to look up the time and days,or you can also get his dvd. believe you me that man is so amazing,it is Worth your investment!

If you get a puppy take it to puppy pre school. Then follow up by taking it to your local obedience class. This will teach you how to train your puppy. This is a much quicker and easier way than trying to learn from books. If you are doing something the wrong way the trainer will pick up on it. Good for you for wanting to make the effort to have a well behaved dog. I wish there were more people like you.
