What is the best dog training program?

i have a dog, she’s about 3 years old now, and sadly she was never trained. she understands sit, but only sometimes does it. she pulls on the leash, constantly tries to run away, jumps up on everyone, and if i took her off the leash in public she would never come back.

any ideas of a training video or website i could use to spare myself the $125 on a class?

I think the $125 fee for a good obedience class is money well spent. An untrained dog is like having an untrained child in the household, they make everyone unhappy.

An untrained dog is a danger to its self and to others as well. If you really do not want to pay the fee, then go on line there are a number of sites where you can get the information you need for training without paying a fee. Also, the public library has a number of books available on dog training and just take it one step at a time and be consistent with practice and you can get your dog under control.

Some pets stores have mini training classes for a very low fee, check ut Pets Mart or other in your area.

$125 on dog classes?!!! that’s crazy expensive!! Over here in england i spent £25 on a 7 week training course that started completely from basics and now my dog can do Sit/Down Stays, Great recalls, finishes and loads of fun tricks. Even the most stubborn dogs learnt loads. But my dog never learnt to walk on her leash properly because shes still really young and gets distracted. Search dog training on youtube and dog training tips on google and you’ll get loads of really good ideas that really helped me. If your dog loves food but seems to get bored with normal doggy treats try really strong cheese or fried liver – dogs will do anything for it :)

If you are willing to spend some time consistently on training your dog, you can do it without going to a class. Here are some excellent sites for pet dog training. For competition training you will definitely need a professional.
