What are the symptoms of dogs affected by the pet food recall?

December 15th, 2009 | by admin |

I am really scared right now. I bought 2 President’s Choice "Extra Meaty" 624g cans and fed one each to my dogs the other day. As soon as I heard about the recall I checked the website and although the product I bought does not appear in the list I’m still not reassured because for all I know they just haven’t realized it yet! My one dog is drinking A LOT more water than usual and has pale gums but seems fine..they consumed the food two days ago. Please let me know what symptoms to look for and how quick the onset of the symptoms are. Please let me know!!

Food was recalled after a fungus was found to be present. The fungus produces poisonous aflatoxin. Symptoms of aflatoxin poisoning include lethargy, loss of appetite, yellowish eyes and gums, and severe or bloody diarrhea.
If you suspect any of these symptoms you should take your dogs to the vet. Better safe then sorry.

the packages that were recalled were sold between january and march. watch for loss of appitite and your dog just not looking well.

    this is the article
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17650075

and there is a link in therre to menu foods and it has a list of the affected brands and the specific packages AND bar codes

if you have any doubts about it go to the vet. id rather pay the $60 and have my dog be ok then not pay and have him dead
