Maltese (dog)

A Maltese is a small breed of white dog belonging to the toy group and poodle. The Maltese does not shed and is covered from head to foot with a mantle of long, silky, white hair. Their hair is compared to carpet. An ancient breed long associated with the island of Malta, it has retained its distinct appearance for millennia. They are very lovable and often get along well with other dogs. Tear stains make red circles around their eyes, though, so their coat should be carefully taken care of.

    Not necessarily. I have a Maltese and she barely ever barks, but my aunt says that her neighbor’s Maltese barks a lot. So, I think it really depends on the dog.

    no offense but their life’s do get miserable because i have a puppy n a cat n wen i got the puppy it was getting so much attention and the cat was miserable but then u get used to it (the cat) and it forgets so it kinda works out but not in the beginning

    My parents are considering getting me a maltese puppy. I have a cat, and i love her SO much, and i don’t want to make her life miserable with the puppy if she is going to be barking a lot and being annoying..which i hear maltese puppies are. but then again i hear that they get a long great with other animals..can anyone who owns a maltese and other animals PLEASE give me their opinion?

    Maltese do tend to do their share of barking. They are somewhat protective of both their owners and their territory. Yes they do bark and not what I would consider a quite breed.

    I have a fourteen year old Maltese (72doggie years) she still has alot of pepper in her, she just sleeps a bit more dreaming of the island of Malta where packs of wild malteses hunt Costco rotisserie chickins. Great dogs.
